Privacy Policy
App: Mamorinu (まもりぃぬ)
1. Introduction
Mirai Glow ("we", "us") provides this Privacy Policy ("Policy") concerning the handling of users' personal information in our mobile application "Mamorinu" ("the App").
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information from User Actions
- Camera images: Food images captured by the user, or selected from the device gallery. We first run an on-device candidate extraction with Google ML Kit. When the on-device result is not sufficient, and only after the user gives explicit consent in-app, the image is sent to Google's generative AI service "Gemini" for identification. See Section 4 for details.
- Voice data: Food names spoken by the user. Processed via the OS speech recognition API (iOS Speech Framework / Android SpeechRecognizer). On Android, voice data may be transmitted to Google servers per OS specifications.
- Food name text: Food names entered by voice or keyboard. When no matching entry is found in the on-device database, and only after the user gives explicit consent in-app, the text is sent to Google Gemini for safety assessment.
- Pre-registered vet hospital: Vet name, phone number, and address registered by the user in settings. Stored locally on the device. Not transmitted externally.
2.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Purchase information: In-app purchase status (from App Store / Google Play)
- Device information: OS type/version, language settings, country code, app version (for service quality improvement)
- Usage data: Crash reports, error logs, feature usage frequency (anonymized statistical information only)
3. Purpose of Use
- To identify food items from camera images (on-device Google ML Kit and Google Gemini API)
- To recognize food names from voice input
- To assess the safety of food for dogs (Google Gemini API)
- To provide one-tap calling to the user's pre-registered vet
- To manage in-app purchases
- To improve app quality, fix bugs, develop new features
- To respond to terms-of-use violations
4. Third-Party AI Service (Google Gemini)
The App uses Google LLC's generative AI service "Google Gemini API" for food identification and safety assessment. In compliance with Apple App Store guidelines 5.1.1(i) and 5.1.2(i), we obtain explicit in-app consent before any data is transmitted.
- Data sent: The food image (JPEG) captured/selected, or the food name text entered. No name, contact, location, device identifier, or other personal information is sent.
- Recipient: Google LLC's Gemini API, accessed through our backend (Netlify Functions).
- Limited purpose: Only to identify food and assess its safety for dogs. Not used for advertising, profiling, or training Google's AI models (per the API terms of service, input data is not used for model improvement).
- Consent: An in-app dialog is shown the first time the AI feature is used. Data is sent only if the user selects "Agree and continue". If declined, the AI feature is not used (the app remains usable for on-device features).
- Storage: Neither we nor our backend store the transmitted images/text. Google's handling is per the Google Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms of Service.
5. Voice Data Handling
- Voice data is processed via OS-standard speech recognition API.
- iOS: Apple Speech Framework. Often processed on-device.
- Android: OS SpeechRecognizer. Per Android OS specifications, voice data may be transmitted to Google servers temporarily. Google's handling is per Google Privacy Policy.
- We do not store voice data on our servers.
6. Third-Party Services

7. Advertising
The App displays NO advertising. No ad SDKs (such as AdMob) are integrated. No advertising identifiers (IDFA / AAID) are collected.
8. In-App Purchase
- The App offers a one-time purchase (single payment unlocks all features) via App Store and Google Play.
- No subscription (recurring billing).
- Payment information is managed by Apple / Google. We do not collect payment information itself (such as credit card numbers).
- For purchase verification, we use RevenueCat to track purchase events.
9. Data Retention
- Camera images / food name text: After AI assessment, neither we nor our backend retain them. Google's retention is per the Gemini API Terms of Service.
- Voice data: Discarded after recognition
- Vet hospital info: Stored on device until user deletion
- Purchase history: Retained for purchase management (one-time purchase, retained permanently for restore)
10. User Rights (GDPR / CCPA Compliant)
Users have the following rights regarding their personal information:
- Right of access: Request disclosure of personal information we hold
- Right to rectification / erasure: Request correction or deletion of incorrect information
- Right to restrict processing: Request restriction of personal information use
- Right to data portability (EU/EEA users, GDPR)
- Right to object (EU/EEA users, GDPR)
- Right to opt-out of sale (California residents, CCPA — we do not sell personal information)
- Withdraw AI consent: at any time from in-app settings (the AI feature becomes unavailable after withdrawal).

11. Children's Use
The App is intended for all ages, but users under 18 should obtain parental consent. We do not intentionally collect personal information from children under 13.
12. Important Medical Disclaimer
The App is an information tool, not a diagnostic tool. In an emergency, always consult a veterinarian. The information shown is reference only and cannot replace professional judgment.
13. Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect collected information from unauthorized access, loss, destruction, alteration, and leakage. Communication with Gemini API is encrypted via HTTPS. However, internet transmission cannot be guaranteed completely secure.
14. Policy Changes
We may modify this Policy as needed. Significant changes will be notified within the App or on this website.
